Porto

In May 2022, I went on my first trip abroad post pandemic and my goodness did it make up for it. My partner and I decided to go to Porto and honestly it was love at first sight. Porto is a costal city in the north-west of Portugal, known for its production of Port Wine and beautiful, winding cobbled streets and colourful buildings. The city impressed me from the get go, we stayed in a gorgeous airbnb in a traditional apartment in a convenient location for exploring. The locals are lovely and very welcoming, the food was delicious and there was just endless hidden treasures to be discovered. The Historical and Art side to Porto is enough to keep you busy for a fortnight so our 7 day spell was packed. However, after 2 years of not being able to travel outside of Scotland, the full-on schedule was welcomed with open arms.

The trip has definitely reignited my love for travel. Pre-pandemic I definitely took for granted the ease of being able to discover new places, food and culture. I cannot wait to add to the list of destinations - and possibly make more prints from photos of these beautiful places.

A Postcard from Porto

When researching places and sights to see around Porto I knew I’d be foolish not to pack my film camera. I only had one roll of film so I had to be thoughtful when choosing what to take photos of. When we returned back to Scotland, I got them developed by a local film developers; Gulabi and I got some gems that I think perfectly captured the nature of Porto.

Despite loving film photography, I did also take my Canon 400d so I would be able to have the freedom and luxury of taking as many photos as I want. I loved how many of the digital photos turned out too. I got to look at them once I got home and had access to my laptop, from there I edited them on Photoshop and the Instagram spam began.

Looking at some of the photos I wanted them on my walls at home to freeze the perfect trip to Porto forever. Instead I wanted to share my trip with anyone who loves the excitement of experiencing the lives of the locals. To capture this I chose some of my favourite photos from the trip and turned them into a postcard style print, with details such as the co-ordinates of Porto. These prints are available to purchase!
